How long should I wait after getting an ankle tattoo to start running?

I am a runner and got a tattoo that wraps around my ankle three weeks ago. The artist told me not to run for the first month or it will have too much wear on it. Should I wait longer than the month or is that good advice? Is it possible to start back up now and not give the tattoo too much damage?
